Showcasing some fabric

 A couple of years ago I was gifted this gorgeous fabric

Which has been sitting in my stash and pulled out from time to time, unfolded, patted then refolded and placed back in the stash waiting for the right project to come along as I did not want to cut the fabric up into small squares.   On getting it out again at the beginning of the week it was time to make a decision on how best to showcase the waratahs.   Some cutting, stitching and quilting happened

And the result is below.    It was very hard to get a good photo of the runner due to the light coming in through the window.    The red leaf, green blender and black and white spot fabrics were all from my stash.   

 An order come in during the week for a couple of bowl cosies so I am off to "stash dive" and make a start on them.

FNSI

Not a great deal- in fact nothing - has been happening in the sewing room over the past few weeks but somethings had been started then put aside and today was the day to find some time and make an effort to finish off those items.   First up was a small donation quilt which had been sitting around for ages  just waiting to be quilted.  Ticked off the list.

Next on the list were my yellow RSC blocks.  The strips of fabric had been cut out but needed to be sewn up.  Done

I had been knitting some beanies that needed to be sewn up, a pom pom added to one and a new one was cast on.  Also ticked off the list.

It felt good to be able to spend some time back in the sewing room again and finish off a couple of items that had been hanging around in an unfinished state for a while.

I have just returned from my walk and found these gorgeous plants along the way.

I don't believe it.......

When shopping in the supermarket yesterday there they were - Christmas mince pies in August.    

I thought last year in September that it was far too early for them to appear in the supermarket as can be seen in my post below.

But this year they have arrived in August. 

Not much - absolutely nothing at all - has been happening in the sewing room over the past few weeks due to various family members having health issues.    Hopefully things will sort themselves out soon and life can get back to "normal" - whatever that may be.

A Tea towel challenge

Was issued by my quilting group last month.   Anything could be made as long as it was from a tea towel. Thinking cap on and several ideas were discounted until I mentioned the challenge to a good friend who suggested a plastic bag holder.   I know that plastic bags are frowned upon now but I always seem to collect a few when doing the fruit and veggie shopping.   This is the chosen tea towel

And this is the result.

It will be interesting to see what the other challengers come up with.
